After 18 years, SPIRIT SERIES is now on the threshold of making its primary mission a reality: to advance a new transformational paradigm in K-12 education. This summer we will launch a major initiative — the SPIRITWORKS Teacher Certification Program — a robust 60-hour professional development curriculum built around the SPIRITWORKS training model, currently in use by SERIES staff and distilled from thousands of hours of classroom instruction. The SPIRITWORKS method begins from a basic premise: transformative results with students must begin with self-transformation of teachers.
The initiative begins with two-day Summer Institutes — open to all interested educators — in Southern California (8/1 – 8/2) and New England (8/16 – 8/17). The trainings are free to any teachers whose schools will be participating in SPIRIT SERIES next academic year. Space for each of the Institutes is limited, so applicants will be considered on a first come first served basis. Click for details and the Summer Institute application form. Completion of the three-part 60-hour Certification curriculum will prepare participating teachers to lead the SPIRIT SERIES Experience at their schools. Each of the three curricular components — Summer Institute, SpiritYear, and SPIRIT SERIES Practicum — is being offered to educators for Continuing Education Units. While all three components are required for Teacher Certification, the Summer Institute and SpiritYear modules are also offered independently for CEU’s to any education professional who wishes to strengthen their classroom outcomes without undertaking the full Certification. As SPIRITWORKS participants, we can expect to develop our innate capacity for inspiration, empowerment and mastery, thereby becoming more fulfilled in our work as educators…and in our lives.
