Youth Today Features “The Founding”

As America Turns 250, SPIRIT SERIES Teaches Democracy Through Theater

We are honored to be featured in Youth Today, a national publication that has covered education, youth development, child welfare, and issues affecting young people for more than 35 years.

In a new Q&A with Editor-in-Chief Karen Pittman, SPIRIT SERIES founders Leslie and Richard Strauss discuss “The Founding”—our new history and civic education program exploring Benjamin Franklin, the creation of the United States Constitution, and the responsibilities that come with participation in a democracy.

The conversation explores why this story matters as America marks its 250th anniversary, how students experience history by stepping into the roles of the people who shaped it, and what nearly 150 students taught us during the program’s first pilot performances.
