At the end of this month, we are bidding farewell to an exemplary member of our team: New England Executive Director, Kent Pierce. It would be hard to overstate what a central role Kent has played in the growth of SPIRIT SERIES during the past 12 ½ years. His enterprise was vital in our efforts to establish ourselves as a national organization, overseeing the program in both Massachusetts and Maine. Together, we weathered the pandemic, and more than doubled the organization’s budget during his tenure. And perhaps most importantly, Kent envisioned the need to add SERIES programming for upper middle and high school students long before it became a reality as our self-discovery and positive core values, video storytelling curriculum:  SpiritCorps.

No celebration of Kent would be complete without mention of his character. A beloved father of three, youth soccer coach, and close friend to countless folks from coast to coast, Kent is the embodiment of many of the virtues we promote in the SERIES—the kind of person you can always count on to speak his mind, go the extra mile and do the right thing no matter how difficult. As he steps into emeritus status, Kent’s legacy will continue to be felt by all of us at SPIRIT SERIES for years to come.
